To remove the throttle body, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, loosen the throttle body air intake duct retaining clamp and remove the air intake duct from the throttle body. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle cam, and for older models, also disconnect the kick down cable. For newer models, disconnect the idle switch electrical connector and remove the idle switch if cleaning the throttle body. Disconnect the wiring from the throttle position sensor and idle speed control motor assembly as applicable. Disconnect the vacuum hose(s) from the throttle body for older models, marking them for reassembly. Remove the retaining screws/nuts and take off the throttle body from the intake manifold, discarding the old gasket. For newer models, remove the coolant hoses connected to the throttle body, marking them for reassembly. Do not remove or adjust the throttle valve set screw. To install the throttle body, ensure clean and dry mating surfaces, position the new gasket, and tighten the retaining bolts to the specified torque. Reconnect the vacuum hose(s) and wiring, and connect the accelerator cable to the throttle cam. For older automatic transaxle models, reconnect the kick down cable. For newer automatic transaxle models, reinstall the idle switch. Reconnect the air intake duct and tighten the clamp, then reconnect the battery. Reconnect any coolant hoses and tighten the clips. Adjust the accelerator cable and kick-down cable if necessary, and check the engine coolant level, filling if needed.
