Carbureted models,disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the air cleaner cover and filter element. Note: Always inspect the filter element for contamination or moisture when you remove it. Detach the cold air snorkel from its clip. Detach the small and large breather hoses from the air cleaner. Remove the two 12 mm flange nuts that attach the air cleaner to the rocker arm cover bracket studs. If your vehicle is a 1986 or 1987 model, detach the small canister mounted on the firewall behind the air cleaner from its clamp and set it aside. Disconnect the electrical connector located under the canister mounting clamp. Raise the air cleaner slightly and detach it from the heat riser tube. Raise the left side of the Air Filter Box and detach the small vacuum hose from the underside of the case. Remove the air filter box. Installation is the reverse of removal.Fuel-injected models: Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Unclamp the air intake tube from the air cleaner cover. Remove the air cleaner cover and air filter element. Note: Always inspect the filter element for contamination or moisture when you remove it. Replace the element if necessary. On 1994 and earlier models, remove the two bolts that attach the resonator to the Air Filter Box. Remove the resonator. Remove the bolts that attach the Air Filter Box to the inner fender panel. Remove the air filter box. Remove the Air Filter Box from the engine compartment. Installation is the reverse of removal.
