This procedure is especially difficult for the home mechanics because of concealed fasteners, hard-to-reach areas, and electrical connectors which have to be marked and disconnected. Start with the negative terminal of the battery and, if needed, take out the front seats, then the steering wheel and multi-function switch. Next, remove the instrument cluster and glove box, then detach the passenger side airbag electrical connector, and finally remove the driver's knee bolster reinforcement structure. Lose the bolts connecting the steering column to the 'instrument panel and lower it, finally, detach the front pillar trim, kick panel, as well as the passengers side trim panel. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the instrument cluster bezel for models from 1999 to 2005 or the lower cluster trim panel for 2006 and later models. Remove the cluster mounting screws to detach the instrument cluster, then pull the cluster towards the steering wheel while disconnecting the wiring. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the rear of the cluster. Installation is the reverse of removal.
