Hyundai 81910-26000 Body Assembly-Ignition & Steering

Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers. Take out the driver's knee bolster trim panel. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition switch, ensuring all wiring harnesses are detached from the switch unit. Remove the shift interlock cable from the bottom of the ignition lock assembly by taking out the screws. The ignition key assembly is secured to the steering column with a pinch-bolt that has a break-off head; use locking pliers to hold the smooth head in place while removing the nut on the rear. Pull the switch out from the Ignition Lock Cylinder housing, allowing for the removal of the lock cylinder from the assembly. Installation follows the reverse order of removal, tightening the new bolt until the head breaks off.
