Q:
How do you remove and install the engine cooling fan and condenser cooling fan in Hyundai Sonata? Posted by Customer
A:
2005 and earlier models are equipped with two fans mounted side by side, 2006 and later models use one larger fan. The cooling fan assembly is located on the left side of the radiator for 2005 and earlier models. To remove the cooling fan assembly, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. On 2011 and later models, you will also need to remove the battery and battery tray. On 2006 and later models, remove the air intake duct. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the wiring mounting bracket if equipped. Then, remove the fan/shroud mounting fasteners and lift out the fan assembly. Hold the fan blades and remove the fan retaining nut or clip, followed by removing the fan blade. Finally, remove the fan motor from the fan shroud. To install, simply reverse the removal process. For the condenser cooling fan on 2005 and earlier models, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the fan/shroud mounting fasteners. Lift out the fan assembly and then reinstall it by reversing the removal process.
