    Q:
How to replace the fuel filter on Hyundai Accent? Posted by Customer
    A:
The fuel filter for carbureted models is located at the emissions canister on the firewall, where you can easily pull it out of the spring clip, disconnecting hoses from filter fittings and removing the filter while replacing deteriorated hoses. The new filter is then pushed onto hoses, clamps positioned, and put back into the spring clip ensuring that they are attached securely and no kinks in them. Engine should be started to check for any fuel leaks that might occur at this part. In most fuel-injected models between 1990-1999, release fuel pressure, hold upper fitting of fuel filter with wrench then remove upper banjo bolt, gaskets and high-pressure hose. Lower fitting should be secured then slowly remove lower banjo bolt along with its gaskets and the main hose. Detach both nuts holding the fuel filter onto firewall. Fit new gaskets on either side of hose fittings, move both hoses over to the new filter before torquing down banjo bolts. For 2000-2002 models: depressurize fuel system; disconnect negative battery terminal; take up back seat cushion; access panel; place rags under each end of fuel filter. After undoing all of above parts for changing this part completely such as loosening clamp top section or unscrewing entire thing from car, start to install it again using new sealing washers on banjos as well as tightening supply line's ones properly until they get tight enough without damage to their threads during screw-up process which requires some force applied precisely at specified points so one must be careful how much torque applied otherwise thread could strip right off its stud causing headaches later down road when person need change another item like if something goes wrong after installation we wouldn't blame our technicians incorrect work but instead accuse themselves being careless about specifications given by manufacturer-it happened once too many times already! Fuel pumps/level sending units have been incorporated into these cars' tanks since 2003 and so changing them is complex that only experienced mechanics should do so.
