Most electric side view mirrors use two motors to move the glass, one for up and down adjustments and one for left-right adjustments. The control switch has a selector portion that sends voltage to the left or right side mirror. With the ignition ON but the engine OFF, roll down the windows and operate the mirror control switch through all functions for both the left and right side mirrors while listening carefully for the sound of the electric motors running in the mirrors. If the motors can be heard but the mirror glass doesn't move, there's a problem with the drive mechanism inside the mirror, necessitating removal and disassembly to locate the issue. If the mirrors do not operate and no sound comes from them, check the fuse. If the fuse is OK, remove the mirror control switch from the dashboard and have the switch continuity checked by a dealership service department or other qualified automobile repair facility. Testing the ground connections is also important. If the mirror still doesn't work, remove it and check the wires at the mirror for voltage. If there's no voltage in each switch position, check the circuit between the mirror and control switch for opens and shorts. If voltage is present, remove the mirror and test it off the vehicle with jumper wires, replacing it if it fails this test.

To remove the outside mirrors, you need to, firstly, remove the mirror trim panel, using a panel removing tool or any screwdriver with a blade covered with some tape. Subsequently, locate the electrical connector and remove it, followed by the removal of the screws/clip that holds up the mirror and finally, the mirror should be pulled out. For removal, reverse the process as touched on in the installation process of the program. The inside mirror, to remove adjust the outer trim piece and then using a plastic tool that pry's up the back of the plastic cover to disconnect the electrical connector if there is one. In some models, gently apply the point of the screwdriver with the taped cover to the mirror mount and the notch of the base of the mirror stalk to free the hairpin-type spring of the mirror stalk. In other models, unscrew the set-screw on the base of the mirror stalk by turning it counterclockwise. If a specific model does not apply to a set screw, replace the spring if it was taken off, align the lugs of the mirror stalk and the mount, and apply upward pressure to lock the mirror in position. If the mount plate to the windshield is undone, the adhesive kit can be bought in auto parts store and apply according to the direction.
