    6. Use a scraper to remove all traces of old sealant from the block and oil pan, and clean the mating surfaces with lacquer thinner or acetone. 7. Ensure the threaded bolt holes in the block are clean. 8. Check the flange of the steel pan section for distortion and flatten it if necessary. 9. Clean the mating surfaces of the engine block and aluminum upper oil pan section, using brake system cleaner to remove all traces of oil. 10. Apply a continuous 1/8-inch bead of RTV sealant to the pan. 11. Install the pan within five minutes and tighten the bolts in the correct sequence to the specified torque. Allow the sealant to set for at least two hours before adding new oil and a new oil filter. You can Select Your Vehicle to see complete installation and repair tips.
