To remove the fuel tank, start by relieving the fuel system pressure and removing the fuel filler cap. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, remove the fuel pump/fuel level sending unit assembly from the fuel tank. Drain the fuel into an approved container by removing the drain plug. Raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Remove any interfering components like fuel tank protection plates. Place a floor jack with a block of wood under the fuel tank. Remove the nuts from the tank retaining straps and lower the tank to gain access to the top. Disconnect the remaining hoses from the tank and carefully lower it. To reinstall, follow the reverse steps and ensure the fuel tank strap bolts are tightened securely.
