The valve cover houses the PCV valve. This requires removing the hose, unscrewing the PCV valve from its position on the cover and then reconnecting the hose. In some models, a foam rubber silencer over the valve will have to be taken off in order that it may be wrenched. Put your index finger on top of the valve opening while at normal engine idle temperature. If there is no vacuum at all or zero pressure when you place your finger on this hole, inspect for blocked value or hoses which are plugged and replace any plugged hoses or valves that have deteriorated. Once this is done, turn off your engine then disconnect the PCV valve from the air cleaner housing and blow through it by mouth starting from an opening near one end of each tube until it blows out through their other ends. If air does not flow freely in this posiiton, buy another one instead. When purchasing, ensure that you select one suitable for your vehicle model and engine size alone. Compare old with new to see if they match before embracing.
