First, strip the area by pulling the door trim panel and watershield, then the door window glass; then for Sierra 2006 and later, the rear channel. Then, it became physically possible to reach inside the door in some models to disconnect the door safety and the inside handle through the door service hole with the latch; if it was physically impossible with the latch on the later models, first, disconnect the rods connected to the inside handle mechanism, although the inside handle latch will be easily accessed later. Subsequently, unbolt the Door latch Retaining screws and pull out the Door latch, and the process of installation is the opposite of the process of detachment. For the lock cylinder, this is located on the outside door handle for the 1995 and later models, the lock cylinder rod should be pulled from its connection, and the retaining clip on the lock cylinder can be removed by using the pliers. As earlier expounded installation progresses in a polarity manner which is in this case the vice versa. Continuing with the interior handle, unscrew its retaining bolts and simply taking the handle out; the rods or cables that connect the handle mechanism must be disconnected although turning the handle assembly or the end of the cable 90 degrees may be required. Before tightening the screws, the handle assembly position should have the correct stroke travel when reinstalling. For the outside door handle you must first remove the lock rod and outside handle rod, then you will have to take out the screws in the nut and then you will have to slide the handle base and separate it. In addition to that, installation is done in a backward fashion.
