The throttle position sensor and the linkage are supposed to be functioning well otherwise driveability will be affected. Therefore, it is advisable to find someone who may manipulate the throttle while you visually observe the sensor as well as the linkage. The actuator called cam-shaped installed on 1986 and 1987 models must have to move smoothly all through its arc and keep touching and discontinuing to touch gradually to the throttle position sensor. Specifically, this actuator is found on carburetors' left side which should also travel smoothly around its axis while it presses continuously on the rearwardly located throttle position sensor. In other words, for 1988 model onwards, check whether a lever operates effortlessly or not and that both screws holding it are firmly tightened.
