Be cautious, Anti-theft radios are found in some models. Have your access code at hand before you undertake any battery disconnection procedure. So start by taking off the cable from the negative terminal of the battery to remove the alternator. Also, raise your vehicle and support it safely with jack stands. Then, disconnect the wire harness from the alternator electrical connections. This includes unplugging a large electrical connector from it, removing a rubber plug from B+ terminal and then unclamping this wire from B+ terminal. Loosen up both Lower mounting bolt as well as upper adjustment lockbolt towards alternator side. Back off adjustment bolt swivel alternator towards engine and release drive belt from pulley of alternator. Finally unscrew and remove upper and lower mounting bolts & washers, then take out assembled alternator from its mounting bracket. If you are replacing an alternator, bring along your old one when you buy a new one. The new/ rebuilt must also look exactly like the old one that has just been removed if you are installing a new or rebuilt unit in place of this old one on purchase check whether; Look at terminals-they should be identical in quantity, size and position with those ones which exist on old alternators; Also, look for identification numbers-they will be either stamped into housing or printed on tag placed on housing itself; Make sure that these numbers coincide with those ones indicated at other alterants; Many new/rebuilt have no pulleys installed hence may need to switch pulley between old unit & rebulit/new one when purchasing an alteernatior always establish whether such outlets change their pulleys upon request free of charge via alternateors brand names Installation is carried out in reverse order Tension accessory drive belt and tighten torque of generator mounting bolts.
