  Q: How to remove and install a throttle body on Hyundai Elantra?

  A: Ensure activation code availability for anti-theft radio systems prior to any battery-disconnecting procedure. Note that for 2011 and later 1.8L engine and all 2013 and later models, the throttle body integrates ISC and TPS into an Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) module, necessitating disconnection. ETC module isn't removable, so issues require throttle body assembly replacement. For removal, disconnect battery's negative terminal cable. Loosen air intake duct hose clamps, disconnect and set aside air intake duct after separating from throttle body, breather hose, IAC hose, and MAF sensor. Disconnect TPS and, for automatic transaxle models, idle switch. On 2001-2010 models, unplug ISC actuator. On 2011 and later models, disconnect ETC module. On early models, disconnect Accelerator Cable, and for cruise control, disconnect cruise control cable. Remove four throttle body retaining nuts or bolts. Partially remove throttle body from air intake plenum to disconnect coolant hoses from underneath, mark hoses, and plug to prevent coolant loss. Remove and discard gasket. For installation, install TPS and, if removed, ISC actuator on 2001-2010 models. For automatics, install idle switch if removed. Reconnect coolant hoses to throttle body's underside, ensuring good condition and tight hose clamps. Ensure clean and dry gasket mating surfaces, place new gasket, install throttle body, and tighten retaining nuts or bolts to torque. Reconnect idle switch connector if automatic. Reconnect accelerator cable to throttle cam and for cruise control, reconnect cruise control cable. Reconnect TPS and (on 2001-2010 models) ISC actuator or, on all 2011 and later models, ETC module. Reconnect air intake duct and tighten hose clamp screws securely. Adjust accelerator cable. Check and refill coolant level as necessary. Reconnect battery negative cable.
