  A: To remove the compressor, have the system discharged by a professional. The compressor is bolted to the engine block. Remove the drivebelt, raise the vehicle and disconnect the electrical connector and refrigerant lines. Remove the mounting bolts and lower the compressor, noting any shims or spacers. If the compressor seized or there are metal particles, flush the system and replace the accumulator. To install a new compressor, add refrigerant oil, disperse oil in the clutch, and install in reverse order with new O-rings. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and tested for leaks.
