Hyundai Excel Tie Rod End

The Hyundai Excel Tie Rod End ensures precise direction of the wheel whereby the car goes exactly where the driver steers. The Tie Rod End is an important link in your steering system between the steering rack or center link and the knuckle. It transfers the turning force while also keeping everything aligned for maximum stability, which is vital for the compact Hyundai at all speeds. Every Hyundai Excel is equipped with a pair of inner and outer Tie Rod Ends. The inner unit is threaded to a sleeve or the rack, while the outer Tie Rod End has a ball stud pinned to the knuckle. This design allows for articulation through bumps without any binding. In the early Excel models that applied conventional gearbox steering, the link from the pitman arm attached with a threaded Tie Rod End. In later hatchback and sedan models, which adopted rack and pinion steering, a lighter, integrated Tie Rod End was applied. This Tie Rod End's only job was to move laterally with the rack. As a result, the overall number of parts was cut down as was play. The hardened ball sockets and adjustable threads for setting toe on the two designs, however, differ in style. Yet either way, every Hyundai Excel will keep a crisp on-center feel, plus reliable self-return and predictable cornering.
