To replace the crankshaft front oil seal, you remove the
Crankshaft Pulley, and if working on 2005 or earlier model, disconnect the
Timing Belts and crankshaft sprocket. Make a note of the dip and direction of the seal and then gently remove it with the help of a seal pulling tool or a large screw driver being very careful not to harm the crankshaft or twist the cover. Pull spade on the end of the screwdriver tip and cover it with electrician's tape in order to avoid damaging the tip. Coat the outside of the new shape seal with clean engine oil or multi-purpose grease, and then start it inward with lips and hammer the seal driver or a large socket to tight it and the installation depth. Apply clean engine oil mixed with filter oil on the pulley hub and follow by repositioning the crankshaft pulley and fix the crankshaft pulley bolt with the recommended torque. The procedure of installing is almost he opposite of that of removing. To access camshaft oil seals on 1999 through 2005 models, then you need to dismantle the timing belt and the two camshaft sprockets, then the next thing that you will do is to take note of the depth of the camshaft oil seals so that when you are using a screwdriver whose handle is wrapped with a tape to remove them, do not scratch both the bore and the camshaft. Scrub the bores and oil or grease the outer diameter of the new seals and also grease the lips. If possible, use a seal driver or a socket slightly smaller than the seal to help tuck the new seals home, square, and at the correct depth. Replace every disconnected part, reset the belt and sprockets in the right manner, and clean surrounding spaces of the seals in order to discover subsequent leaks. A few very important things that needs to be checked after few days of using the vehicle is leakage.
