Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts for one wheel, then raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands before removing one rear wheel. If needed, disconnect the exhaust system hangers to provide clearance, followed by disconnecting the Sway Bar links from the bar. Unbolt the sway bar bushing retainers, then for 2007 and later models, remove the shock absorbers, followed by the brake calipers, suspending them using mechanics wire. Next, remove the wheel speed sensor and the parking brake cable from the rear hub/knuckle assembly, and for 4WD models, remove the driveshaft. Support the subframe using a floor jack, then remove the subframe mounting bolts and partially lower the assembly before removing the rear crossmembers. The Sway Bar Kit can now be removed from the vehicle, and the bushings should be taken off while noting their positions. Check the bushings for wear, hardness, distortion, cracking, and other signs of deterioration, replacing them if necessary, and also check the Sway Bar links for loose ballstuds. Clean the areas of the bar where the bushings ride using a wire brush, and lubricate the inside and outside of the new bushings with vegetable oil, avoiding petroleum or mineral-based lubricants or brake fluid to prevent deterioration. Installation follows the reverse order of removal.
