Pop the lugs, lift the car and set it on jack stands safely before you attempt to remove the wheel. Third, undo the tie-rod end and the jam nut both of which can be unscrewed from the assembly. Towards the back of the vehicle, take off the outer clamp with pliers and pry off the inner clamp or cut it. Prior to the fitting of the new boot, it's advisable to cover the threads and the serrations on one end of the steering rod with a layer of tape to avoid scratching the threads of the small end of the new boot. Place the new boot into the area of the rack and pinion then fit it into the groove on the steering rod. Connect new clamps. Once the tape is detached, you can fit the tie-rod end. Lastly, put the wheel back and the lugs and tighten them to the correct torque, before lowering the car, and ensure that an alignment is done by either a dealer service department or an alignment shop.
