Remove the four mounting nuts holding the brake booster to the firewall. You may need a light to see them, as they are located up under the dash area.

To inspect the brakes on a vehicle, follow these steps: Loosen the wheel lug nuts. Raise the vehicle and securely support it with jackstands. Remove the wheels. For front and rear disc brakes, check the pad thickness by looking at each end of the caliper and through the inspection window in the caliper body. Replace the brake pads if the lining material is less than the specified thickness. If it's difficult to determine the pad thickness, remove the caliper(s) and pads for further inspection. Clean the pads with brake cleaner and re-measure them. Measure the disc thickness with a micrometer to ensure it still has service life remaining. Before installing the wheels, inspect all brake lines and hoses for damage, wear, deformation, cracks, corrosion, leakage, bends, and twists. For rear drum brakes, ensure the parking brake is off and remove the brake drums. Clean the brake assembly and note the thickness of the lining material on both front and rear brake shoes. Check that all brake assembly springs are connected and in good condition. Inspect the brake components for signs of fluid leakage. Wipe the inside of the drum and check for cracks, score marks, deep scratches, and "hard spots".
