    Remove the brake shoes and disconnect the cable end from the lever on the trailing brake shoe. Depress the tangs on the cable casing retainer and pass the cable through the backing plate using needle-nose pliers or a box-end wrench. Note: A small screw-type hose clamp can also be used to compress the retainer tangs.
