    Q:
How to remove, inspect, and insatall the cylinder head on four cylinder Hyundai Sonata? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before removing the cylinder head they require to relief the fuel system pressure and also to unplug the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Suck the engine coolant then remove the intake and exhaust manifolds and then the camshafts. Clean and disconnect the electrical connection and coolant hoses from the cylinder head noting that, in models namely 2006 and beyond, the water temperature control unit could be removed at this stage. To remove the cylinder head: first, turn the cylinder head bolts in an opposite sequence to the tightening pattern by turning them for 1/4 of a turn; next, to prevent both warping and cracking, lifting the cylinder head off of the engine block with a little pry. Withdraw any other accessories attached to the external casing in order to clean or examine it. Make sure to use a precision straightedge and run it across the gasket surfaces to see if they have warped as well as bulging and, to check for cracks and signs of coolant leakage. Before installing both the cylinder head and block, it is very important to clean the mating surfaces, using a gasket scraper together with brake cleaner. Inspect the areas of contact for flaws and remove any dirt that may be in the bolt holes. For each bolt steel threads on 2005 and earlier model year, clean the threads and check the length restrictively measure the bolt length and replaced any damage and exceed the limits of the length. For models produced after 2006, it is necessary to change all nuts used for the cylinder head bolts. Replace those elements to the cylinder head, align the new gasket properly and fit the cylinder head on the block over the gasket without shifting its position. Before engaging the nuts and bolts, spread clean engine oil on the threads and sub ports of the bolts heads, engage and tighten the nuts and bolts according to the sequence and following the additional 90 degrees turn required. The following are the procedures that are opposite to these removal steps; after that, there is a change of the engine oil and the oil filter, the coolant, starting of the engine and checking on the leakage.

    Q:
How to remove and insatall cylinder heads on V6 Hyundai Sonata? Posted by Customer
    A:
The details of the removal where that for 1999-2005, one has to relieve the fuel system pressure and then join the negative cable of the battery. Dump the coolant and take off the upper hose to the radiator, next the upper and lower intake manifolds, and at least the exhaust manifold(s), although you may wish to leave these bolted to the cylinder heads. Remove the timing belt from the camshaft sprocket(s), spark plug wires, and all the other sensors and hoses which are out of the way of the removal process. Thus, on the vehicles produced after 2006, pull the engine out along with the installation on the engine stand, then remove the intake and exhaust manifold and the camshafts. In all models, turn the cylinder head bolts clockwise till they can be turned anticlockwise by hand, then remove the cylinder head from the engine block, gently using a wooden wedge and hammer if possible. Run a precision straight edge and feeler gauge over the gasket surfaces of each head and examine for cracks & recouse for coolant leakage. Before joining of the cylinder heads and block, the adjacent surfaces should be clean with gasket scraper and brake cleaner also the cylinders should be stuffed with rags to avoid dropping of some particles. Tighten a bolt to way-point torque then loosen to half way and go through the cycle two more times.Inspected the mating surfaces in the cylinder head and block for damages and chased the threads of the bolt holes with a tap and blew out the debris using compressed air for each way. When reassembling the head for 2.5L or 2.7L engines, clean the bolts with a vise, while for a 3.3L V6 engine, change all head bolts. Install new gaskets over the dowel pins in the block while aligning them and apply the RTV sealant. Place the head gently on the block then apply fresh engine oil on the bolt thread and v(undersides) then put and tight the bolts as per the sequence advised. The following installation steps should now be completed in reverse order of the ones listed above: Replace the top of the transmission pan; fill the cooling system; change the motor oil and filter; start the engine; check the cooling system for leaks.

    Q:
How to remove, inspect, and insatall the cylinder head on four cylinder Hyundai Santa Fe? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the cylinder head the following procedures should be adhered to, relieve fuel system pressure and joining the cable of the negative terminal of the battery. Suck the engine coolant out; thereafter, unfasten the intake and exhaust manifolds together with the camshaft. Stow the electrical connections and coolant hoses away and label and remove cylinder head connectors, and will also note that the water temperature control unit, on the 2010 and later model is removed at this time. To get it off, undo the cylinder head bolts in reverse and by a quarter turn each at a time to avoid warping or cracking of the block and carefully lift the cylinder head off the block using a crow bar when required. Disassemble any remaining elements coming from the outside for thorough cleaning by inserting a wipe. Sometimes to check the gasket surfaces for warpage, use a precision straightedge and look for cracks, and leaks from the head to the coolant. School that the mating faces for the cylinder head and block to be clean before fitting using a gasket scraper and brake system cleaner. For the two surfaces that are brought together during mating, examine them for signs of damage and debris, replacing bolts that have damaged threads. All cylinder head bolts need to be replaced on 2010 and later models, and engine oil need to be changed on 2014 and later models. Replace the components which have been pulled out from the cylinder head, properly orient the new gasket and properly place the cylinder head on the block. Damp the threads and under the heads of the bolts square with clean engine oil, and then engage and snug the bolts in the suitable order in compliance with the established torque values. In case of using new parts, it is necessary to apply the given torque sequence. Last but not the least, perform the installation process in the conversational order, replace the oil filter, fill the civilization, start the engine and look for leaks.
