Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts and, for 4WD models, the drive axle/hub nut. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands. For 2006 and earlier 2WD models, remove the cap, nut, and washer from the rear hub, using a hammer and punch to unstake the nut, then remove the brake disc. Next, take off the spindle nut and lift off the hub assembly, ensuring to restake the hub nut during installation, as the rear hub assembly is secured with a staked nut that must be restaked into the notch in the spindle after tightening to the specified torque. For 2006 and earlier 4WD models, remove the brake disc and the entire parking brake assembly, disconnect the rear wheel speed sensor wiring harness, and remove the four nuts from the end of the rear bearing housing using holes in the flange. Attach a large two-jaw puller to the rear hub to pull the hub assembly from the bearing housing, then remove the brake backing plate. The bearing housing can be unbolted from the trailing arm, and the snap-ring from the wheel bearing can be removed with snap-ring or needle-nose pliers. The wheel bearing race can be removed by a shop equipped with a press, and installation follows the reverse of removal, tightening all fasteners to the specified torque values. For 2007 and later models, remove the drive axle/hub nut, the rear brake disc, and the wheel speed sensor. From the back side of the knuckle, remove the hub-to-knuckle bolts and separate the hub and bearing assembly from the knuckle. If the drive axle sticks in the hub, use a two-jaw puller to push it out as the hub and bearing are removed. Clean the hub mating surface on the knuckle, then install the hub and bearing assembly, tightening the bolts to the specified torque. The remainder of installation follows the reverse of removal.
