This operation necessitates a big vise or press or, it may be advisable to be taken to the dealer service section, service station, or machine shops to have the universal joint replaced. Carry out the elimination of drive shaft before proceeding to the elimination of the snap rings on the spider until the spider is free by use of pliers, but needle nose is recommendable where needed. Secure the driveshaft and position the shaft on a work bench in a vise. Place a piece of pipe or huge socket with inside diameter a little bigger than the bearing cap on one cap while placing another socket with outside diameter a little small than the opposite cap on the said cap, and with the use of vise or hydraulic press, pull the bearing cap out. Turn the bearing cap the rest of the way out with a vise or big pliers and then do this for the other bearing cap also. Apply the grease to the new joints as indicated by the universal joint kit's manufacturer, if the package contains such instructions. Secure the spider into the yoke and screw on one of the bearing cap until it is just a bit past halfway home, then begin to screw the spider into that cap and screw on the other cap the same way. Force the bearing caps onto the shafts and fix the spider into place being cautious so that the dust seals are not damaged. Insert the clutch caps completely with the use of the small socket then put the snap-rings and if it is so tight to sit properly, strike the driveshaft yoke lightly with the hammer. If it is still impossible to fit the snap-ring then striking the yoke with a brass hammer can help to eliminate the tension and make the snap-ring to sit into its slot. In case, there exists a grease fitting, fit it well and replenish the grease from the tip suitable for a grease gun before fixing the driveshaft well.

If any of the above conditions exist, the universal joints should be replaced with new ones.
