Before changing the differential case the driveaxle/hub nut and the lug nut of the wheel to be changed must first be loosened, the vehicle needs to be raised and secured with jackstands before the wheel is to be detached. Subsequently, remove the wheel speed sensor from the knuckle assembly and the brake disc from the hub of the car but be sure to hang the caliper with a piece of wire. Bolt off the driveaxle/hub nut, and then gently hit the driveaxle with a piece of soft metal such as a plastic hammer to release the driveaxle from the splines. Remove the nut and washer that joins the tie-rod end to the steering knuckle arm, then, unbolster the lower balljoint that connects the steering knuckle, and finally remove the nut and washer that connects the upper balljoint and the knuckle. Disconnect the driveaxle nut and push the driveaxle through from the hub and pull the knuckle off while supporting the end of the driveaxle with wire. For installing, first, enter the knuckle and hub assembly, drive the axle into the hub, secondly bolt the upper ball joint on the knuckle and then fit the lower ball joint. Secure the tie-rod on the steering knuckle arm by tightening the balljoint nuts and the tie-rod nut to the recommended torque and check supplier drawings for this step though for some models the lock pins might be spring-steel reusable lock pins instead of cotts. Mount the brake disc on the hub and fit the caliper and the wheel speed sensor, fit and firmly tighten the drawaxle/hub nut, the final tightening required is done after lowering the car. Lastly, fit the wheel back and Screw the lug nuts tightly, after which the vehicle is lowered and the torque on the lug nuts and the driveaxle/hub nut is checked and adjusted.
