Most electric side view mirrors utilize two motors for adjustments; one motor controls vertical movement while the other manages horizontal movement. The control switch features a selector that directs voltage to either the left or right side mirror. With the ignition ON but the engine OFF, roll down the windows and operate the mirror control switch through all functions for both mirrors. Listen for the sound of the electric motors running; if the motors are audible but the mirror glass remains stationary, there may be an issue with the drive mechanism, necessitating removal and disassembly of the mirror to identify the problem. If there is no sound from the mirrors, check the fuse. If the fuse is intact, remove the mirror control switch from the dashboard and have its continuity tested by a qualified repair facility. Additionally, test the ground connections and check the wiring diagrams for guidance. If the mirror still does not function, remove it and check for voltage at the wires. If voltage is absent in each switch position, inspect the circuit between the mirror and control switch for any opens or shorts. If voltage is present, test the mirror off the vehicle using jumper wires and replace it if it fails this test.

To add or remove the outside mirrors first, then take off the mirror trim panel by using a panel removing tool or the flat head of a screwdriver that is taped to avoid scratching the paint of the panel as it can be easily popped off. Third, unbend the electrical connector of the mirror, and undo the three bolts that pin the mirror into the car and then slowly slide it out of the car and held by gripping it from the open window. To uninstall it, perform the steps in the opposite way of how the installation was performed. Another thing that needs to be done for the inside mirror is to disconnect connector, if it exist. In some models, gently insert the blade of the screwdriver under the mirror mount and the notch at the base of the mirror stalk and open it to release the hairpin type spring engaged on the stalk. In other models, un-screw the set screw located at the base of the mirror stalk. In cases that there is no set screw, re-attach the spring if it was replaced and adjust the mirror stalk lug into the mount then press down till in place securely.
