Well, to remove the rack and pinion, avoid steering the car for a while, loosen the nut on the front wheel, lift the front part and place it on jackstands firmly. Engage the parking brake, as well as the rear wheels and if applicable; the engine under-trays. Put down a drain pan beneath the rack and pinion, disconnect the pressure and return hoses on the power steering, and seal the open ends to contain a spill and any contamination, using a flare-nut wrench because it protects the fittings. Locate the U-joint of the intermediate shaft to the steering shaft and take out the pinch bolt, detach the stabilizer link from front strut, and disconnect both ends of the tie-rod from the steering knuckle arms. Remove the pressure tube from the rack and pinion and the return line of the hydraulic fluid, then unscrew the bolts holding the rack and pinion in place, and pull it downwards and to the side in order to inspect the state of the mounting bushes. In this case, the specific procedures include: to center a new rack and pinion with a pinion count in lock to lock turns, then to locate the rack and pinion on a subframe, fasten and tighten the rack and pinion mounting bolts, and join the applicable power steering hoses. Lift the subframe; ensure the I/S U-joint is in proper position, fit and tighten the subframe bolts, and pinch bolt on the steering shaft. Screw the collar of the tie-rod ends to the steering knuckle arms, replace new cotter pin and fasten the nut in the other end and tighten the nut by the wrench in the reverse order. For 2010 and earlier models, it should be filled up with recommended power steering fluid and the power steering should be flushed, but just before it is done, the alignment aspect should also be checked and corrected if needed.
