Battery Cable first and hook it up last or the battery may be shorted by the tool being used to loosen the cable clamps. Remove the nuts and bolts and the battery hold down clamp. Lift out the battery. Special battery lifting straps that attach to the battery posts are available at auto parts stores. Lifting the battery is much easier if you use one. If the battery tray is damaged or must be removed for access to other components, remove the mounting bolts and lift it out. To remove the battery tray, remove these mounting bolts. If you are replacing the battery, make sure that you get one that's identical, with the same dimensions, amperage rating, cold cranking rating, etc. Installation is the reverse of removal.
