On all 2011 and later 1.BL models and all 2014 and later models, the Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) system adjusts the timing of the intake and exhaust valves. Two valves are utilized on all engines except for the 2017 and later 2.0L MP/ engines. In 1.BL engines and 2014 through 2017 2.0L GD/ engines, the valves are positioned on each side of the cylinder head. For 1.4L engines, the intake valve is found at the front of the timing chain cover while the exhaust valve is on the exhaust side of the cylinder head. In 1.6L engines, the intake valve is on the intake side of the cylinder head and the exhaust valve is situated on top of the valve cover. In 2017 and later 2.0L MP/ engines, three valves are present-two for intake and one for exhaust. The intake BANK 1 #1 valve is located on the intake side of the cylinder head, the intake BANK 1 #2 valve is at the front of the timing chain cover, and the exhaust valve is on the exhaust side of the cylinder head. To proceed, disconnect the negative battery cable, then disconnect the electrical connector to the OCV valve(s). Remove the valve mounting bolt, slide the OCV valve out of the timing chain cover, valve cover, or cylinder head, and discard the O-rings. Apply a small amount of oil to the new O-rings, then insert the valve(s) into the timing chain cover, valve cover, or cylinder head, with the remaining installation being the reverse of removal.
