To replace the trunk lid latch, open the trunk and pull the composite fasteners and the trim panel on 2007 and later models. It also provides an area for installation around the trunk lid latch assembly by scratching a line around it. Remove the cable or rod from the latch, then put a mark in the body where the latch was previously positioned and, thereafter, undo the two screws on the latch so that you can easily detach the latch. Then remove the wiring harness or cable from the latch and the process of installing the part would be to reverse that of the removal. For the trunk lock cylinder you have to take out trunk lid trim panel for 2007 and later models and later disconnect the rod from the lock cylinder. On the cars up to 2006 models, you need to take out the lock's retaining clip; in cars made after that year, you have to unscrew the mounting screw. Last of all, get the lock cylinder out of the trunk lid, and installation will also be the same process of removal.
