Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the steering column covers along with the lower instrument panel cover. For 2006 and earlier models, to remove the electrical portion of the ignition switch, follow the harness back to disconnect the electrical connector, then remove the screw and detach the switch from the Ignition Lock Cylinder housing, which is retained by one screw. The switch/Ignition Lock Cylinder housing is clamped to the steering column by shear-head bolts; use a chisel and hammer to tap the bolts counterclockwise to unscrew them. Remove the Ignition Lock Cylinder/ignition switch assembly from the steering column, then mount the new Ignition Lock Cylinder assembly and install new shear-head bolts, tightening them securely without breaking the heads off at this time. Insert the key to check the Ignition Lock Cylinder and steering column lock for proper operation, and once satisfied, tighten the shear-head bolts until the heads break off. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal. For 2007 and later models, on 2011 through 2016 models, remove the
Wiper Switch from the multi-function switch. For 2007 through 2010 models, turn the key to the ON position, remove the screw at the rear of the switch, and take out the ignition switch. If necessary, remove the screw from the side of the assembly to take out the door warning switch and the light. For 2011 and later models, the Ignition Lock Cylinder is mounted into the ignition switch; to remove it, turn the key to the ACC position, use a small pointed tool to depress the button on the side or bottom of the Ignition Lock Cylinder housing, and pull out the Ignition Lock Cylinder. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the start/stop button in keyless entry, remove the driver's knee bolster and the center left side trim panel fasteners and trim panel. Remove the star/stop button trim panel fastener, disengage the trim panel mounting clips, and remove the panel. Disconnect the electrical connector to the button, depress the two retaining tabs on the button, and push the button through the trim panel. Installation is the reverse of removal.
