Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. On 2009 and earlier models, loosen the two small screws at the front of the handle, then remove it; ensure to align the push button with the plunger when replacing the handle for proper positioning of the screws. If the button and spring are removed from the handle, note the direction of the button's installation. For 2010 and later models, pull the shift knob straight up to remove it. Pry up the indicator panel and disconnect any wiring as you remove it, then remove the center console. If necessary, remove the electromagnetic switch and the detent assembly. Remove the long pivot bolt from the passenger side, then lift out the parking brake cable bracket, the pivot sleeve, the cable lever, the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers, and the switch lever. Installation is the reverse of removal; depress the button to engage it with the top of the shift mechanism before tightening the screws.
