For the 2007 and earlier models, start with the removal of timing belt/chain; secondly the
Oil Pan to install oil pickup and gasket. Next, loosen and then take out the access plug that is found on the left side of the engine block and then with a screwdriver, make sure it penetrates the block at least 2 ½ inch to balance the shaft. Subsequently, remove the endplate assembly, the balance shaft and oil pump sprocket bolt, the front case or oil pump housing. Subsequently, the oil pump cover, as well as the oil pump gears, should be pulled out from the assembly. Scrape of all existing sealant and the old gasket material from the pump body and engine block to the extent possible and clean the mating surfaces with brake system cleaner. Check the oil pump for signs of wear or damage; if so or there is doubt regarding the object's condition one should fit a new one. Feelers can be slipped under the two pieces of metal to get a measurement with which to compare the clearances. When installing, pack the pump chamber with a little fresh clean engine oil that is poured into the suction side of the oil pump and while doing so, the drive gear shaft is rotated. Align the two timing marks of the oil pump gears to face each other in the same straight line. If required fit new oil seals, and ensure proper gaskets are used new ones should be fitted especially the O-ring of the front case. Loosening of bolts should be done successively in stages, crossing across each bolt to prevent them from warping, and then tighten the lower drive sprocket retaining bolt. Replace all worn out timing belts, fill the engine to the required level, engage the engine, examine oil pressure, and leakage. However, on the models which are manufactured from 2010 and onwards, the oil pump is integrated within the balance shaft module and they are sold together; any of the two cannot be replaced independently of the other.
