Since this operation is on a car, first, loosen the wheel lug nuts and raise the front of the car using a jack, supporting the car with jackstands and block the rear wheels as well as set the parking brake before finally removing the front wheel. After that tighten a tie-rod with the use of locking pliers or a wrench depending on their thickness and size that do not come off and loosen the jam nut just enough to mark the position of the tie-rod end with reference to the threadings, as permit the new tie-rod end threaded on the same number of turns. Disconnect the tie from the
Steering Knuckle arm by loosening the cotter pin then the nut on the tie-rod end stud then use puller to get it off. When this is done, use an open-wrench to unfasten the nut and, in the process, release the tie-rod end from the tie-rod. For the installation, pass the tie-rod end through the marked design and subject the tie-rod stud through the steering knuckle arm then tighten the jam nut firmly. Place the castle nut on the stud and turn it sufficiently tight, then place a new cotter pin. Lastly, fit the wheel and both lugs and nuts tight, lower the vehicle and then tighten the lug nuts to the recommended torque, and then have the alignment checked by either the dealer service department or an alignment store.
