This procedure applies only to models that have an external fuel filter. Other models use a fuel filter that is part of the fuel pump assembly. First, relieve the fuel system pressure, then disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Place rags or a drain pan under the fuel filter. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. The fuel filter is mounted near the left front comer of the fuel tank. Loosen the fitting nuts on the fuel lines. Be sure to hold the fuel filter fittings with a wrench. Remove the bolt securing the filter mounting strap, then remove the filter. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Use new sealing washers and tighten the fitting nuts to the torque. Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition key to the On position, then check for leaks.
