Hyundai 605N6-2BU00 Crankshaft Assembly

Check the oil seal journals at each end of the crankshaft for wear and damage. If the seal has worn a groove in the journal, or if it's nicked or scratched, the new seal may leak when the engine is reassembled. An automotive machine shop may be able to repair the journal by pressing on a thin sleeve. If repair isn't feasible, a new or different crankshaft should be installed.

Cut several pieces of the appropriate size Plastigage and place one piece on each crankshaft main bearing journal, parallel with the journal axis.

Check the main bearing caps to see if they're marked to indicate their locations, which should be marked consecutively from front to rear. If they're not marked, do so. Loosen the main bearing cap bolts 1/4-turn at a time until they can be removed by hand, and note if any studs are used to ensure they are returned to their original locations when the crankshaft is reinstalled.
