To repack rear wheel bearings for models with a castellated spindle nut, start by removing the wheel, backing off the parking brake adjuster if necessary, and prying out the dust cap. Remove the cotter pin, nut lock, spindle nut, and washer. Pull the drum/hub assembly slightly to dislodge the outer bearing, then remove it. Pry out the seal and remove the inner bearing. Clean, inspect, and repack the bearings with grease. Apply grease to the spindle and reinstall the bearings, followed by a new seal. Adjust and secure the spindle nut with a new cotter pin, tap the dust cap into place, and finally, reinstall the wheel and check for bearing movement before lowering the vehicle and tightening the lug nuts.

The steering knuckle and hub assembly must be taken to a dealer service department or other repair shop equipped with the necessary tools for this procedure.
