Approximately every 3000 miles or time 3months, a few drops of light oil or lock lubricant, must be put on the hinges and latch assemblies on the doors, hood, and trunk. In other considerations, the door latch strikers should be lubed to a thin layer to reduce the amount of ware and friction that occur at every turn. Spray-on graphite lubricant should also be sprayed on the door and trunk locks for reducing the wearing out process.

6. Remove the window glass (see Section 18). 7. Disconnect the door wiring harness where it connects to the door hinge jamb and pull the harness into the door. 8. Remove the fasteners securing the inner panel and lift it out, being careful to thread the door latch cables through as you do so. Disconnect the wiring harness and speaker connection. 9. Remove the door operator module, outside handle, and its pad (see Step 18). 10. Remove the outside handle base from inside the door. 11. Remove the latch bolts and lift out the latch. 12. Installation is the reverse of removal.

A few drops of light oil or lock lubricant should be used for the hinges and latch assemblies.
