Some models have anti theft radio, and thus before disconnecting the battery you need to have the activation code. Start with a short circuit connection of the battery negative terminal. For models up to 2006, pry off the gear selector trim bezel on the console, take out screws that fit the console to the floor, then lift the console away from the shift lever, disconnect as many electrical connections as possible and then fully remove the console. Removal is the exact process in reverse where the clips of the gear selector trim bezel are ensuring that is pressed down firmly to get an exact fit. For 2007 through 2010 models, locate the trim ring around the shaft below the shift knob, pull that down and get the single screw at the base of the shift knob out and the shift knob can now be removed. To access the locations mentioned above, one can use a pry bar made of plastic or a screwed, although it is better to stick one end of a strip of tape to the top console, and the other-to the top of the storage box, and pull it toward or pull it down. While removing the other wiring harness keep lifting the console. Installation, on the other hand, is done in the reverse order from as seen in the example below . For 2011 and later models, push in the two side trim panel mounting clips and pull the panels away, until all of the clips are free. On manual transaxle, the shiftboot clips should be released and the boot raised; on automatic transaxle, put the gear shift knob side and carefully pull down the cover, at the base of the knob, then remove the horseshoe shaped clip and slide the knob. The process involves tip of removing the mating screws on the console upper cover, pulling the upper cover clips and disconnecting the electrical connectors and finally removing the cover. Take off the cover of the parking brake, loosen an access panel located on the floor in front of the console box by removing the respectively designated screws and move it up. Take off the console base: Now, (some of) the side trim panel fasteners and the panels, though the latter can be had only after removing the former. Installation on the other hand is a process opposite to the removal process.
