Before you start, engage the parking brake and disconnect the battery power, first the negative connection and then the positive connection and let the engine sit for at least two minutes. For 2012 and earlier models, clockspring screws must be undone, the electrical connector of the clockspring has to be disconnected and the clockspring has to be detached from the steering column. For 2013 and later models, remove the four screws in the cover plate at the base of the clockspring to access the clockspring's two electrical connectors, then use a small-independent screwdriver to unlock three locking pawls or clips of the clockspring body then pulling the clockspring away from the steering column. Then you need to take off the combination switch, the lower part of the instrument panel, and on the 2007 models, the lower instrument panel reinforcing brace. Locate the electrical connectors that are connected with the steering column wiring harness and remove them. Next, take out the pinch bolt of the lower end of the steering column and also the screws of the steering column bracket. Last but not the least, take off the steering column. For removal, the following are the general process and while installing one should reverse the process and make sure that the fasteners are tight, the clock spring is in the middle.
