Where is the air filter and Cabin Air Filter located and how do you remove it on Hyundai Santa Fe?

The air filter is located inside a housing on the side of the engine compartment. To remove the air filter, release the clamps retaining the two halves of the air filter housing and disconnect the wiring from the Mass Air Flow/Intake Air Temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor in order to create enough clearance to raise the lid. Lift the cover up and remove the air filter element. Inspect the outer surface of the filter element. If it is dirty, replace it. If it is only moderately dusty, it can be reused by blowing it clean from the back to the front surface with compressed air. Always wear eye protection when using compressed air! Because it is a pleated paper type filter, it cannot be washed or oiled. If it cannot be cleaned satisfactorily with compressed air, discard and replace it. Never drive the vehicle with the air cleaner removed. Excessive engine wear could result, and backfiring could even cause a fire under the hood. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure the hinge tabs on the housing cover engage properly with the lower part of the housing. There is a Cabin Air Filter in the blower housing that cleans the air before it enters the passenger's compartment. To remove the Cabin Air Filter, open the glove box and release the assist cord on the right side. Lower the glove box door by pushing inward on both sides of the box. Pull back the trim panel. Turn the filter door knob counterclockwise to release it. Lift the cover off and remove the upper Cabin Air Filter element. Lift out the lower element. Installation is the reverse of removal. Align the grooves with the lugs on the edges of the filters.

Q: Where is the air filter and Cabin Air Filter located and how do you remove it on Hyundai Santa Fe?
A: The air filter is located inside a housing on the side of the engine compartment. Lift the cover up and remove the air filter element. Inspect the outer surface of the filter element. If it is dirty, replace it. If it is only moderately dusty, it can be reused by blowing it clean from the back to the front surface with compressed air. Always wear eye protection when using compressed air! Because it is a pleated paper type filter, it cannot be washed or oiled. If it cannot be cleaned satisfactorily with compressed air, discard and replace it. Never drive the vehicle with the air cleaner removed. Excessive engine wear could result, and backfiring could even cause a fire under the hood. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure the hinge tabs on the housing cover engage properly with the lower part of the housing. There is a Cabin Air Filter in the blower housing that cleans the air before it enters the passenger's compartment. To remove the Cabin Air Filter, open the glove box and release the assist cord on the right side. Lower the glove box door by pushing inward on both sides of the box. Pull back the trim panel. Turn the filter door knob counterclockwise to release it. Lift the cover off and remove the upper Cabin Air Filter element. Lift out the lower element. Installation is the reverse of removal. Align the grooves with the lugs on the edges of the filters.
