Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Carefully pry the switch panel out of the instrument panel using a suitable trim panel tool, as the instrument dimmer control and traction control switch are located in a panel that can be easily removed from the driver's knee bolster. To replace the switches, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the switch from the panel, with installation being the reverse of removal. For the hazard warning light, fog light, and rear window defogger switches, remove the lower center trim panel. For 2009 and earlier models, take out the two screws from the bottom of the upper trim panel, which secures the bottom of the center trim panel, and use a trim tool to pry the upper panel off by releasing the clips. For 2010 and later models, remove the center trim and center audio/navigation trim panel. Disconnect the wiring from the switches and remove the assembly, ensuring to mark the identical electrical connectors of the fog light and defogger switches to avoid confusion. Remove the individual switches as necessary, with installation being the reverse of removal.
