    Q:
How to replace the Crankshaft Seal on 2011 and earlier Hyundai Accent? Posted by Customer
    A:
remove the timing belt, crankshaft sprocket, timing belt, guide flange to be able to replace the front oil seal. From below the left inner fender, check from where you installed the crankshaft oil seal is correct and using seal removing tool or flat head screwdriver you carefully remove the crankshaft oil seal, being very careful not to dent the oil pump housing or damaging the crankshaft. As for seal seat, clean it together with the seal in the oil pump housing and abrade the rough edges as they led to the first seal damages; if a groove appears on the crankshaft sealing surface, it will be impossible to stop the leak even with a new seal. Coat the lips of the new seal lightly with fresh engine oil to prevent sticking, centre the seal over the end of the crankshaft and gently hit it home to the specified depth with a hammer and socket so that the seal lips face each other compressing them. Last of all replace the timing belt guide flange, crankshaft sprocket, and the timing belt. Thus, the best practice for the rear oil seal is to remove the oil pan and the rear oil seal retainer; however, the technician can employ a less invasive approach as long as it does not harm the crankshaft sealing surface. First, it would help to raise the flywheel/driveplate and then gently push the old oil seal out of the housing with a seal puller or even a thin flat-head screwdriver while equally being careful not to harm the crankshaft. Clean the seal housing and slap off any burr or edge, clean the oil seal seat and dip the new seal in the engine oil, later fit over the crankshaft with the sealing lip downwards. preferably, a new seal should be slipped onto the shaft and a proper seal installation tool should be used to fit the new seal in the housing; or a tube preferably metal or a socket may be used as a drift; if none of the two is available, the seal may be hammered gently into place this must be done in such a manner that the blunt tool hits it squarely into the housing with firm surface contact on the housing. Finally, reinstall the flywheel/driveplate.

    Q:
How to replace the rear crankshaft seal on 2012 and later Hyundai Accent? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, take out the transaxle; next, you have to take out the flywheel/driveplate. Remove the Crankshaft Seal from the rear of the engine with the aid of a seal puller or a screwdriver in such a manner that one does not gouge or paint the crankshaft or the seal slot. Raise the block and clean the seal bore with a shop towel and make sure that there is no dirt or oil in it. Apply a little grease on the OD of the seal then slide it over the end of the crankshaft, making sure the lip is pointing toward the engine. If possible, with the separation vessel oriented the opposite from the original seal position, use a seal installment tool to press the new seal back into this location with the understanding that a small oil drain pipe in the separator must be at the bottom. In case the proper installation tool cannot be applied, then the use of a large socket will suffice in order to drive the new seal in such a manner that it will be parallel to the edge of the engine block. Finally, bolt on the flywheel/drive plate and then the transaxle.

    Q:
What should you note before removing the old seal for the 2013 Hyundai Accent? Posted by Customer
    A:
Note how the seal is installed - the new one must be installed to the same depth and facing the same way.
