Remove the center console. For 2000 and earlier models, two screws are to be removed and shift knob to be unbolted, apart from disconnecting the overdrive switch connector. Some connector plugs are labeled and include the shift lock cables from the lever assembly for the 2006 and earlier models, remove the plugs from the shifter. 2007 through the 2013 models: No clip and cable to be removed; pull wiring of the interlock mechanism and remove the clip for the cable coming from the front of the shifter bracket. For the 2014 and the later models, the cable ball socket end needs to be ejected with the help of a screwdriver.
