First, engage the parking brake and move the shift lever to neutral position to start with the process followed by unscrewing and removing the shift lever knob. Next, remove the center console assembly, and then pinch the wires' ends of the shifter cables and take out the pins. Gently grasp the cable housing retaining clips and pull them out of the shifter base and position them aside then move to the transaxle end to get the shift cables and remove the retaining clips on them and drop one of the cables to differentiate it. Take off the fastenings of the transaxle ends of the shift cables and run them through the grommet wall for extraction. Some of the later models therefore may require removal of two screws that are found under the dash cowl that anchors the grommet to the firewall. When you are pulling the cables out in order to fit new ones, ensure that the end bushings are loose or damaged. Lastly, installation procedure occurs in an anti-clock wise manner that is the reversal of the removal process.
