For COOL models, the knock sensor is mounted on cylinder head side of the engine block at positions close to the CTP. First, remove the cable involving the negative terminal of the battery and then the knock sensor electrical connection as well as the knock sensor physically being loosened from the engine. Its removal is as simple as installation process, the only difference being that instead of covering the screw-threads, they are uncovered. For the V6 models, the knock sensors are located right at the valley of the cylinder head and to get to them; the tower intake manifold has to be unstalled. The initial step that should be followed is to remove the cable from the negative battery terminal, and next the upper and lower intake manifolds. Next, remove the bolts that hold the knock sensors; meanwhile, remove the electrical connectors of the knock sensors and the wiring harness retainers from the engine block. Removal is done in the reverse order to installation.
