First, engage the parking brake and make sure that the gear shift is in the neutral position; now, detach the knob of the gear shift lever by using an Allen wrench. Finally, to gain access to the area in which the moisture has collected, it is necessary to unbolt and pull out a center console assembly. Remove the remaining pins from the ends of the shift cables by using pliers and then, remove the retaining clips from the cable housing-they are located in the shifter's base. The next procedure is where you have to look for shift cables at the transaxle then you have to remove the retaining clips of shift cables and after that withdraw the pins from the transaxle ends of the shift cables. Pull the cables out through the firewall grommet for the removal. Before replacing the cables it is recommended to ensure that the end bushings are tight and free from any signs of damage. Last, before that, the installation process is completed in the opposite order of the removal process.
